Welshpool flourish in exile

Welshpool Hockey Club seem to be enjoying their season in exile, and started the New Year with two wins over the weekend.

The ladies are playing at Maldwyn Leisure Centre, in Newtown, while The Flash is out of action, and moved up to fifth on Saturday thanks to a hat-trick from Sarah Thomas leading them to victory over Bala in North Wales Division One.

Performances have been strong this season under new skipper Sonja Evans, and they carried the league form over to the Cup with a 6-3 win on Sunday at Eirias 2nds. Thomas bagged another couple and there were braces too for Zoe de Zeuw (2) and Sarah Williams (2).
