British bronze for Adele

Welshpool’s Adele Nicoll threw a brilliant personal best to land bronze in the shot put final at the British Indoor Athletics Championships in Glasgow today (Sunday).

Adele has been in great form of late and put in a career best indoor throw of 16.19 metres to secure third spot on the podium.

She finished behind winner Amelia Strickler, who also threw a personal best of 17.96m to take gold, and silver medallist, Sophie McKinna, who was second with 17.39.

“Thank-you to those who said good luck and to everyone sending their congratulations messages,” said Adele.

“Thank-you also to those who continuously support me through the highs and lows of this demanding sport. It means a lot and all of this would be impossible without you.

“Special mention to Rikki Lloyd for fuelling the everyday work required to step onto these podiums.”

In the past month, Adele has won the Welsh Senior Shot Putt championship as well as the British Universities title.
