There’s only one Asa Hamilton….

Former Guilsfield fans' favourite, Asa Hamilton, has stepped in to save the day after a teenager’s bike was stolen while he was at training.

The striker went down a storm at the village club, winning over the fans with his swashbuckling performances that saw him secure a lucrative move back to North Wales last year.

The striker has now won over the internet after his gesture following the theft, which left 14-year-old Rio Lovell without a way of getting to football training in Shotton from his Mancot home in Flintshire.

An appeal was made for information by Cefn Druids goalkeeping coach Clive Davies and within minutes Asa replied: “I’ve got a bike the same as that. I bought it a year ago and ain’t even been on it. I gave £600 for it but I’m willing to give him the bike if he can’t get his old one back.”

Within hours, a meeting was arranged and Asa handed over Rio’s new wheels.

Clive, who posted the photo, said: “I think Rio has a new idol!”

Praise came in from his former teammates at Guilsfield with his former boss Nathan Leonard calling him “some man” while former strike partner Danny Barton called him “quality”.
