Rivals return for President’s Day

Local legends of yesteryear, and some who are still starring today, will reignite former rivalries on Sunday when Welshpool Over 40s host their Newtown counterparts for President’s Day on Sunday, at Maesydre.

Welshpool will be led by Captain of the multiple Shropshire League winning side of the 1990s, Ian Cadwallader, with Newtown led by the Richard Smout.

A club spokesman said: “We look forward to welcoming our old rivals to Welshpool for what should be an entertaining game. We would also like to invite any club members from the past and their families to join us.”

The game starts at 12pm and social distancing restrictions will be in place.
