Welshpool maintained their emphatic form with a big win over Montgomery II in the Wales & West division.
Lance Parks (86), Dan Chodecki (42) and Russell Cadwallader (35) set the tone as Welshpool amassed a formidable 254-9, despite Rob Yewdall’s best efforts of 4-25.
Rob Anderson (4-13) and youngster Will Gannon (3-14) then tore through the Montgomery batting to whittle them out for just 52.
Guilsfield edged a tremendous match with Newtown II who had set a target of 120-8 for the villagers to chase.
It was looking tight at one stage, but veterans Rupert Shingler (19no) and Allan Williams (10no) held it together for the three-wicket win.
Llanidloes bowled Bishop’s Castle out for just 77, and cruised home for the loss of two wickets with Andrew Jones (40) top scoring.
Newtown maintained their winning start to the cricket season with a seven-wicket win over Alberbury in the John Rees Division One league.
With runs hard to come by, Craig Davies returned figures of 4-7 as Alberbury struggled to 88 all out, allowing opener Sam Morris (18no) and Tom Anderson (24no) to steer the hosts home.
Montgomery’s batsmen were in rampant form as they posted 247-5 at home to Ellesmere in the Shrewsbury & West Division Two.
Gareth Jones (66), Andrew Barker (53) and Aaron Ruff-Cock (80) all contributed to Monty’s impressive 247-5, before Tom Hughes took 4-36 to reduce the visitors to 147 all out for a 100-run win.
Welshpool II completed a winning weekend for the club after Callum Preston smashed 76 and Neil Pryce added 43 to steer them to a target of 267 at Pontesbury II, who were dismissed for 113 in the Border division.
