Pool On Bottom Of Table

22/08/2010 @ 08:21

Technogroup Welshpool sit at the bottom of the Cymru Alliance League after their second defeat of the season yesterday.

Graham Evans' new charges went down 2-0 to a well organised Flint Town side and the boss now knows the task he faces aftere new goalkeeper Dave Jones(pictured), signed from Newtown late in the week, kept the scoreline looking respectable with a string of fine saves.

Jon Kenworthy missed a penalty before Matty Roberts gave Flint Town United the lead. Shaun Beck ensured  the points for Flint two minutes from time and Pool finished the game wirth 10 men after Scott Jones was given his marching orders.

Guilsfield collected their second point of the season as manager Mike Barton overcame selection headaches to earn a 1-1 draw at newly promoted Rhos Aelwed. Ex-Wrexham star Wayne Phillips, who was in charge at Elements Cefn Druids last season,  gave Rhos Aelwyd the lead from the penalty spot after 14 minutes .

But Guilsfield are made of strong stuff this season and a determined performance was rounded off by Scott Graham, who ensured the village side's second away draw of the new season.

Former Newtown and Welshpool keeper Dave McGuire made his debut for Guilsfield after failing to earn a contract at AFC Telford, where he has been on trial during the pre-season build up.

Dyffryn Banw suffered a home defeat in the Spar Mid Wales League first division. Chris Roberts' side went down 3-2 at home to Penparcau.

Meifod suffered a heavy defeat in the second division, crashing 6-0 away to new-look Abermule and Llanfair are also finding the going tough, losing 3-2 at Kerry. Four Crosses are also seeking their first win, losing 2-1 on the long trip to Talgarth.

Montgomery will be hoping they are not heading for fixture congestion probelms after winning 4-2 at Llanystumdwy in the FA of Wales Trophy.

The goals were scored by Shane Kirkham (2 -1pen), Tony Meredith and Lee Jones.
