Local referee Rob Jenkins took centre-stage yesterday to referee the JD Welsh Cup Final.

Jenkins took charge of the showpiece final which saw The New Saints beat Penybont 3-2 at the Cardiff City Stadium

The match saw Jenkins referee the final for the very first time, having previously acted as fourth official a few seasons ago.

Since becoming a FIFA referee, Jenkins has officiated at numerous international matches, including a UEFA Nations League fixture, UEFA Champions League, Europa League Qualifiers and U21 Euro Qualifiers.

In the domestic game, Jenkins has overseen JD Cymru Premier fixtures and took charge of the 2019 Nathaniel MG Cup Final between Cambrian and Clydach Vale and Cardiff Met at Jenner Park.

Before the game, the FAW’s Match Officials Manager Lee Evans said: "Rob has been one of the most consistent referees in the JD Cymru Premier over the last few seasons, and is professional in his attitude, both on and off the field.

"He has proven that hard work and dedication can give you the opportunities to officiate at the highest level both domestically and internationally.”
