Sevens tournament cancelled

COBRA’s youth rugby 7s bonanza that was scheduled for Sunday has been cancelled.

Club Director Trevor Jones confirmed that the decision had to be taken due to the tournament clashing with so many other events over the Bank Holiday weekend which had affected entry numbers.

“There was a lot of interest from clubs all over Mid and North Wales as well as Shropshire and Cheshire but many were unable to commit due to them facing player shortages so we have decided to put it on ice until 2011,” he said.

The one-day event was due to attract teams in three age groups. Jones added that the club will look into organizing the event next year and provide camping facilities for clubs to turn it into a youth festival at their Meifod base.
