But at the end of day two, the winner with a nett 142 points was Peter Sharman, Dai Ll Jones second with 146 and John Roberts taking bronze with 147 points.

Sunday saw the annual fixture twixt Seniors and Ladies sections of the club. A match play competition. Five pairs on each side. Tension in both camps. No quarter asked nor given. Equality! What equality? Mutter mutter mutter. Result 4½ - ½ to the Ladies. Traditional cream tea to follow put a 'Sheen' on the event. Oh yes, the Seniors presented a bunch of flowers to the Lady Team Captain. Oh what a picture, Oh what a result.

Lakeside

The Club hosted the 2010 Lakeside Ryder Cup at the weekend with a full field of competitors ensuring fierce (yet friendly) competition.

After a brilliant performance in the morning foursomes the Vice-Captains' team lead admirably by Brad Willetts ably assisted by his good lady wife Elaine secured a handsome lead. Fortunes turned however in the 2nd round fourballs resulting in the Captain's team led by Jim and Sandy Knight overturning the morning rout to take a marginal lead into the final round singles.

A tense finale prevailed and after a nip and tuck affair the V.C.'s squad finally took the trophy by a couple of points. A special mention must go to Kevin Lewis and Kevin Lloyd who both won all three of their matches throughout the days competition, well done guys and well done to your fellow team members:

To cap a wonderful day Club Captain Paul Butterworth accompanied by wife Jan managed to rush back from South Africa in time to present the trophy to the winning team.
