Powys offers help to sports clubs

Sports clubs in the Welshpool area looking to organise, host or compete at an event which will have a dramatic impact on their club can now apply for financial assistance worth up to £200.

The Montgomeryshire District Sports Council Events / Competition Support Grant is open to clubs that can demonstrate that the event is outside the day-to-day running of the club and, as a result of the event, will improve or add a new dimension to the club.  The council is a branch of Powys County Council's North Powys Sports Development Unit.

The aim of this grant is to provide clubs with financial assistance towards the organising, hosting or competing at an event which will have a dramatic impact on the club.  The event must provide a sport that is recognised by Sport Wales.

The grant can be spent on one-off competition events, open days or hosting regional or national competitions.

All applications will be assessed by a panel of Montgomeryshire District Sports Council representatives, who meet twice a year.
