Guilsfield ensured they will be in Tuesday’s draw for the third round of the Welsh Cup with victory at Caernarfon Town.

Ross Frame continued his scoring streak with the first and a superb Scott Graham free kick put Guilsfield 2-0 up at the break. But they were left to sweat late on after Caernarfon pulled a goal back with 15 minutes remaining.

Technogroup Welshpool showed glimpses of a recovery but still slipped to a 2-0 defeat at Rhydymwyn (right).

Dafydd Griffiths and Tom McElmeel put the hosts 2-0 up at half time and despite a bright second half showing, Welshpool couldn’t find a way back.

Spar Mid Wales League

Berriew enjoyed a brief spell on top of Division One on Friday night after a pair from Will Thomas eased them to a 3-0 victory over Llansantffraid Village under the lights.

But unbeaten Llanrhaeadr reclaimed top spot on Saturday with a thumping 8-0 win over hapless Presteigne. Llanrhaeadr were 5-0 up at the turn.

Dyffryn Banw responded to manager Chris Roberts’s call for improvement with a dramatic 4-3 win at Builth Wells, while injury ravaged Waterloo Rovers’s woes continued with a disappointing 4-0 defeat at home to defending champions Penparcau.

There were goals galore in Division Two with four of the six matches finished 2-2. Leaders Kerry were held at Bont but Montgomery couldn’t capitalise after being held at Rhosgoch. Llanfyllin returned from Aberaeron with a point but Meifod lost 3-2 at home to Tregaron. Luke Gethin, Tom Ryder and new signing Matt Jones were on the mark for improving Llanfair United in their 3-1 win. The game was marred by a recurrence of the rib injury to goalkeeper Lee Andrew.

Montgomeryshire Amateur League

In Division One, Llangedwyn went 2-0 up inside five minute and despite letting that lead slip, ran out 3-2 winners at Guilsfield Reserves with goals from Darren Edwards, Derek Southern and Jon Morgan. Waterloo Reserves were held 1-1 at Churchstoke who had Kofi Shasu on the scoresheet. Mike Davies scored for Waterloo. Carno Reserves beat Berriew Reserves 6-2 with Josh Gethin bagging a brace for Berriew.

In Division Two, the feel good factor is running throughout Llanrhaeadr with the Reserves beating Llansantffraid Village Reserves 3-2 with goals from Darren Martin (2) and Mel Roberts. Bryn Jones (pen) and Steve Jones scored for the Village. Welshpool Reserves march on with a 3-1 win at Kerry Reserves while Llanfechain slipped up 3-2 at home to Trefonen. Dyffryn Banw Reserves and Llanfair Reserves shared the points in 1-1 draw. Waterloo Colts slumped to a 2-0 home defeat to Morda Reserves.
