Woe for Welshpool, Guilsfield win

24/10/2010 @ 08:28

New Technogroup Welshpool manager Mike Barton must surely be wondering if he made the right decision to quit Guilsfield for Town after watching his side lose 4-1 at Llandudno in the Huws Gray Cymru Alliance.

And just to add to his woes Guilsfield, the club he left, were putting an end to a four game losing run by winning 4-0 at Ruthin.

Welshpool were never in with a shout on the coast as Llandudno romped home with goals from Jordan Kane (2), Danny Hughes and Joe Morgan, leaving Barton's side floundering 15 points adrift following their 15-point deduction.

There were no such problems for Guilsfield as Richard Astley(2), Scott Graham and Graham Dyke blasted their side to vistory at Ruthin. The Guils were 3-0 up inside 20 minutes and also hit the woodwork three times.

New manager Russell Cadwallader missed the game through a family commitment but will have been delighted that his deputy Bernie Jones signed off with such an emphatic win to end the run of bad results.

In the Spar Mid Wales League first division high flying Llanrhaeadr's winning sequence finally came to an end with a surprise 1-0 defeat at Tywyn/Bryncrug, which allowed Berriew to close the gap to three points.

Berriew were celebrating a 3-0 win at Bow Street despite the loss of manager Cadwallader. Neil Pryce rallied the players and was rewarded with a determined performance that sees the Rhiewsiders keeping their promotion plans right on track.

Waterloo Rovers were held at home by struggling Dyffryn Banw, who have been hit with the news that Mark Roberts is again sidelined with his dislocated shoulder problem.

In division two Four Crosses pulled off a great 3-2 win at fancied Abermule to continue their climb up the table. Crosses trailed 2-0 but charged back through Gaz Jones (2) and Owen Wilcock.  Llanfair United went down 2-1 at Bont.

Llanfyllin were toppled by Llandrinod 5-1 and Montgomery enjoyed a similar scoreline against Aberaeron.

Llangedwyn continued their fine run in the JT Hughes First Division with a 1-0 win over Carno Reserves but Churchstoke found Llanidloes Reserves too strong, losing 3-1 and Guilsfield Reserves continued to find the going tough, losing 3-0 at home to Caersws Reserves.

In the Mitsubishi Division Two, Technogroup Welshpool remain at the top of the pile after a 3-2 win over Llanfechain while a young Waterloo Colts side shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw at Llansantffraid. Llanrhaeadr Reserves beat Kerry Reserves 5-2.

In the Llanidloes Town League Cup, Dyffryn Banw Reserves went down 7-2 at Trefonen while Waterloo Reserves suffered a shock 2-1 deafeat at the hands of Morda Reserves.
