While Mid Wales football ground to a halt today two former Welshpool Town players were starring in the FA Cup.
Kyle Jacobs, who made 20 Welsh Premier League appearances for Welshpool, was in the FC United of Manchester side that pulled off a shock 1-1 draw at Brighton while Gary Roberts who made 21 appearances was one of the scorers as Huddesfield trounced Macclesfield 6-0.
Roberts is a left winger that was with Liverpool, Rhyl and Bangor before Welshpool. He left for Accrington before making the step up to Huddersfield.
Jacobs was an Oldham Athletic and Mansfield Town trainee who made four League appearances at Field Mill and moved to Macclesfield Town in August 2005, but was released a year later and signed for Bangor City, later joining Porthmadog. He moved to Welshpool Town in January 2008, signing for Runcorn Linnets in the summer of 2009.
