Welshpool welcome back Dowbridge

08/12/2010 @ 02:55

The frantic activity continues at Technogroup Welshpool who have welcomed back combative midfielder John Dowbridge just a month after he left the club.
The 32 year-old told previous manager Mike Barton that he was retiring but has been talked back into a return to Maesydre by new boss Chris Herbert.
“He is very respected in the Alliance for his no nonsense style of play,” said Herbert. “John loves to do the jobs that no one else likes to do. He will put himself about and win his headers and hardly ever gives the ball away.
“Now the squad is looking strong, and there is real competition for places all across the pitch. I’ve now got a first team squad of 18 players who are all good enough to step in if someone isn’t pulling their weight. It’s hard to keep people happy when lads are left out of the squad but I’m hoping that lads who may be left out show the right character and make a fight for their place.”
Dowbridge will be thrown straight into the team for Saturday’s match with Buckley, weather permitting.
