Mac praises Windsor’s royal return

Montgomery manager Clive McNamee has hailed Geraint Windsor’s return to fitness as one of the best Christmas presents he could have wished for.

The former Welshpool skipper (right) made a match winning double contribution after coming on as a 75th minute substitute on Saturday in their 3-1 win over Abermule. His first came without even touching the ball when his dummy allowed Gaz Bromley to lob home before his pin point pass set up Tom Evans’s cracking third.

It was a remarkable return to competitive action for Windsor who has been sidelined with injury since signing for the Spar Division Two promotion chasers.

“I said when Winds(or) signed he would be the signing of the season and I still firmly believe that,” said McNamee. “It looked at one stage that we were not going to break them down so we introduced Geraint Windsor with 15 minutes to go with the score level at 1-1 and he turned the game.”

McNamee’s side, named team of the month for November, have turned into a formidable outfit and with games in hand, they look set for a serious New Year assault on the title.

“I told the lads a few weeks ago where I wanted to be at the Christmas break and we are exactly there,” he said. “I'm very pleased with everyone at the moment. The new signings have settled in well and team spirit is excellent. With more snow due the end of this week I doubt we will play again before the New Year but we will continue to train and hopefully we can continue where we have left off come January. Again the results were kind to us with Four Crosses and Kerry both losing so it is very much in our hands.”
