Senior Buyer

Role Overview:
Managing the tactical execution of MRP plan with a range of complex global suppliers and sole sourced components. Full accountability of inventory, projects and performance within the supply base being managed.
The successful candidate’s main responsibilities will include:

Material Availability

·Managing and negotiating the setup of component replenishment or consignment stock; by reviewing inventory levels, target quantities, lead times, aligning MOQ/MSQs with production demand.

·For non-replenishment/consignment items; ensuring timely action of, raising POs, rescheduling, expediting and good overall orderbook management.

Management of Suppliers

·Dealing with complex global suppliers to ensure they deliver parts on time and in the right quantity.

·Analysing the best transit solution for Far East suppliers; lead time and cost implications, to meeting the production plan

·Review with key suppliers the forecasts received after S&OP using Supply v Demand technique, resolve any gaps in supply. Escalation of potential risks in supply, in a timely manner such that a solution can be found.

·Problem solving complex supply situations; finding alternative suppliers, proposing alternative materials, components, working with E&D for approval.

·Work on cross functional teams to move supplier tools and ensure supply continuity.

·Review suppliers performance and take actions with poor performing suppliers using Root Cause and Corrective Action techniques.

·Support the Quality Department and Warehouse in the resolution of quality or delivery issues.

Inventory Management

·Find opportunities to reduce inventory held by working in inventory reduction projects with suppliers managed.

·This includes the negotiation, setting up and review of supplier managed inventory and seeking to reduce CTs liability of stock held by suppliers.

·Monthly review and analysis of obsolete Inventory and recommending inventory disposal.

Contract Negotiation

·Working alongside Strategic Procurement; negotiate, implement, and review contractual agreements to cover the operational purchasing terms; delivery, inventory, logistics, liability of inventory, buffer and consignment terms.

Qualifications, Experience and Profile:

·Business Degree and MCIPS, or working towards would be advantageous.

·3-5 years of experience of purchasing materials, from complex global suppliers.

·Management of a range of electronic, mechanical and distribution materials.

·Proven experience of dealing with complex supply chain environment.

·Understanding of logistics, customs and global shipping.

·Highly analytical with advanced excel skills

·Continuous improvement ethos using project management techniques.
