Welshpool firm completes ‘mammoth task’ for council
SWG Group has raised the roof with the work they’ve done as part of a contract with Powys County Council to bring their housing up to the Welsh Housing Quality Standard.
The mammoth task has seen 647 kitchens refitted and teams on the sites of council houses, bungalows and blocks of flats to take preventative measures to ensure all the roofs are up to scratch.
Jacqui Gough (pictured), Director at SWG Group, said: “This has been two huge projects for our teams at SWG Group and we are thrilled that we have been able to complete them on time and on budget.
“Almost all of our workforce has been assigned to these projects at some point over the past four years and each and every one of them have made a difference to the council tenants they’ve worked for.
“It was never a daunting task to us, but one our team took pride in working through and seeing the numbers rack up each month.
“They have been able to adapt to Covid-19 restrictions and work within new regulations to complete the job. Both the roofing and kitchen projects have now been extended for 12 months and we look forward to working with the Council to continue to ensure their properties meet the needs of Powys residents.”
All kitchens have benefitted from new electrics, plumbing, flooring, improved
functionality, modern new kitchen units and work tops and received full decoration to
finish the room off.
And for the roofing, SWG Group has invested in staff training to learn different types of roofing and new techniques that will improve the standard of work and longevity of the roofs the company fits.
SWG Group carry out social housing, education, health care, local authority and commercial contracts across Shropshire and Mid Wales. In the past SWG Group has also worked with PCC to refit bathrooms.
