The Tuffins Welshpool garage on the edge of town has been sold to one of the country’s leading forecourt brands.
In an announcement to customers this morning on Facebook, the business announced that it would close on October 29 to allow for the rebrand to take place, with the new brand believed to be Shop’N Drive which is owned by the new owners Rontec UK.
“We can confirm that Tuffins Welshpool will be closing on Sunday, 29th October at 6pm,” the statement reads. “The Petrol Station will be changing ownership to Rontec UK as of Monday, 30th October.
“There will be a short closure of the store whilst the forecourt and convenience store are rebranded.
“From everyone at Delves & Co Ltd we thank you for an amazing five years in Welshpool. We look forward to seeing the exciting changes take place at the store over the coming weeks.”
Rontec UK operates 265 petrol stations across England and Wales under the Esso, BP and Shell brands.
“We take a dynamic and flexible approach to roadside retail. Our convenience stores run under three key brands: Shop’N Drive, Spar and Morrisons Daily,” the company states on its marketing web site.
“This mixed-format approach and our wide range of suppliers allow us to provide highly targeted offers to our customers.”
Tuffins was the first part of a development on the Buttington Roundabout that has also seen McDonalds join the petrol forecourt at the location.
When it was announced in 2018, the company said it was a £3 million investment that would create up to 30 jobs.
