Top chef Bryn Evans is returning to his roots to take over the Nags Head in Garthmyl in a deal brokered by regional specialists Colliers International.

Mr Evans, originally from the Wrexham area, is well known across the Greater Manchester area having worked as head chef at the Manchester Abode Hotel, the Obsidian Restaurant at the Arora Hotel and the Etrop Grange Country House Hotel.

He has spent most of his career in the hospitality sector and aims to bring five-star quality to the popular watering hole which has reopened after a brief closure earlier this year.

“I have experience within country house hotels with Michelin stars, four-star hotels, small independent restaurants, Gastro pubs as well as high volume brasserie outlets,” he said. “I have been looking for my own place for some time now and the Nags Head ticked all the boxes in terms of right venue, right time and right place.”

Mr Evans says he wants to bring the same five-star standards to Montgomeryshire, applying the same quality and finesse to the menu at the Nags Head, which also has five letting rooms.

“We will be celebrating Welsh farms and Welsh produce - Wales is currently producing some of the best products in the world which is being used by some of our greatest chefs including Heston Blumenthal.”
