Our weather girl loves Powis Castle

MyWelshpool weather girl Sian Lloyd is encouraging people to pay a visit to Powis Castle to experience the spectacular Autumn colours.

The warm, welcoming colours of Powis Castle hold a powerful appeal for weather presenter Sian Lloyd at this time of year when the trees seem to echo the rich hues of the castle’s ancient walls;
“I think hand on heart I would have to say the redness of Powis Castle is what appeals to me,” she said. “I know it’s been described as Italian terracotta, dusky pink or whatever, but forget that - Powis Castle is a red castle, especially in Autumn.
“You walk around the grounds and look back and see the red of the vines, the red of the leaves and Powis Castle glowing red in the autumn sunshine. And of course red is the colour of Wales so I feel that it really pulls at the heart strings.”
Head Gardener David Swanton said: “For me, it is always satisfying to see the garden here looking so good. It’s a joy to experience the transformation to such rich autumn colour.
“We have trees and plants from all over the world, so at almost any time from September to November you’re likely to find autumnal colour somewhere around the gardens.”
Powis gardens and restaurant are open daily from 10am-4pm until the end of the year (closed on Christmas day). The gift shop and Christmas shop are open 11am-4pm until 1 November, when the opening times will change to 11am-3pm for the rest of the year.
