Buyers from across Wales, England and Scotland were successful bidders at a weekend dispersal sale of a Welsh border arable contractor’s tractors and machinery.
The auction was organised by Halls auctioneers for Frazer Moss, owner of Moss Contracting, Churchstoke, following his decision to stop arable contracting and focus on the fencing part of his business.
A large crowd braved the rain to attend his sale at Montgomery Waters Yard site, Churchstoke, by permission of the Delves family, on Saturday.
Buyers from as far away at Scotland and Cornwall secured the tractors an excavator offer, as a large number of bids were placed via the MartEye online auction platform.
Three Massey Ferguson tractors were sold, with a 2020 MF 7726-S with 4,010 hours making the sale’s top price of £63,000, a 2019 MF 7718-S Dyna VT 4WD with 5,040hrs making £43,800 and a 2014 MF 7620 Dyna VT 4WD with 8,060hrs selling for £29,500.
Other leading prices were £57,000 for a 2021 Kuhn 4m BTF 4000R combi drill with 2021 HR4004 DR power harrow and TF1512 front tank and chute, £35,500 for a 2020 Takeuchi TB290-2 hydraulic excavator with 4,000hrs, £28,500 for a 2022 Kuhn HR6004DR power harrow, £18,000 for a 2020 K-Two Duo 1200 K2D-12 muck spreader, £11,000 for a 2014 JPM 20 ton twin axle dump trailer, £4,900 for a McConnel Discerator 3000 subsoiler, £4,500 for a 2017 Massey Ferguson FL4121 front loader, £4,000 for a 2014 KRM M2W QZ fertilizer spreader and £3,600 for a Cherry Products 10ft hydraulic buckrake.
“Regardless of the wind and rain, there was a tremendous show of support for Frazer Moss, which was a reflection of the respect for him and his contracting operation,” said Henry Hyde from Halls.
“There as competitive bidding on all lots with particularly keen interest in the Kuhn Combi Drill, Massey Ferguson tractors and the Takeuchi excavator. SmartEye was kept very busy.
“Frazer has been meticulous in the upkeep of his tractors and machinery. We wish him all the very best for the future.”
Frazer thanked Halls for conducting the auction and the Delves family for allowing their yard to be used.
