SJ Roberts Construction and Lowfield Timber Frames, part of the SJ Roberts Group, have raised over £7,000 for charity following a year of dedicated fundraising activities involving staff from across both the businesses.

Funds were shared between three charities with strong local connections to both the group’s headquarters, and the active development sites that the businesses are working on. Those charities are: The Bracken Trust, a cancer support charity based in Llandrindod Wells, Ponthafren (pictured), a Welshpool-based mental health charity and Lingen Davies Cancer Support, a charity dedicated to improving and enhancing the situation for cancer patients across Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin, and Mid Wales.

A highlight of the fundraising calendar was a 12-hour Spinathon, hosted by the two companies in Welshpool, which saw staff cycle continuously on two static bikes for 12 hours.

Additional fundraising throughout the year included a ‘Pie and Pudding’ evening at The Lowfield Inn next door to the group headquarters, cake sales, raffles, and participation in a series of Adrenaline Sporting Events, including headline sponsorship of the Welshpool 10k.

Speaking on behalf of SJ Roberts Construction, Mike Sambrook, managing director, said: “We’re incredibly proud of the commitment shown once again by our teams. Each year, they step up to get involved and fundraising is truly a collective effort.

“So many staff give their time, energy and enthusiasm specifically because we choose to support causes that are close to home and are particularly poignant to us. Raising over £7,000 is a fantastic achievement and a reflection of how much our people care.”

Representatives from each of the supported charities attended a cheque handover event at the group’s headquarters in Lowfield.

Concluding, Darren Jarman, managing director at Lowfield Timber Frames, said: “These organisations provide vital support within our communities, and we’re delighted to be able to contribute in a meaningful way.

“Thanks must go, not only to our staff who so happily get involved in the fundraising activities, but also to those who support us in our efforts – notably the businesses in our supply chain that very kindly sponsored our charity t-shirts for 2025.”
