Bid to launch a Welshpool business network

07/05/2026 @ 09:31

Moves are afoot to launch a new Welshpool business network despite failed previous attempts to link the community through a Chamber of Commerce.

The Welshpool Business Collective is a bid to support the town’s small businesses to overcome the feeling of isolation, particularly the many residents that run their business from home, sole traders, budding entrepreneurs, shopkeepers and small business owners.

Its creator said that membership will be less than the price of a coffee per month with monthly meetings held, unless agreed differently by the group.

Organiser Mike Lade said: “If I am to take this further, I need to know what sort of support or need there is in the town. If you are interested in getting involved in the ‘Collective’ then please get back to me and I’ll organise a group meeting and share the proposal I have to make it work.”

You can register your interest through https://form.jotform.com/mikelade1975/WelshpoolBusinessCollective .

This is an initiative under the Welshpool Rotaract club, a partner club of Rotary International and takes their Rotary roots back to 1905 when Rotary was the original Business Network.

The Welshpool Rotaract club welcomes anyone of 18+ who wishes to drop in to an informal meeting to learn more about this Rotary membership option for a modern generation, and they meet on the second and fourth Tuesday in the month in the back bar of The Royal Oak, in Welshpool from 6.15pm until 7.00pm. The advice though is to check as they also have social evenings at other venues.

They also use Zoom for meetings that can be useful to those further afield, can’t make the travel or those that would like to be part of a community group but are housebound for whatever reason.
