27/09/2019 @ 10:25

Welshpool’s Broad Street will be closed to traffic on Saturday and Sunday to accommodate the annual 1940s Weekend.

With Brook Street now open to two-way traffic the Town Council has successfully applied to the North Wales Trunk Road Agency for a two-day closure in support of the 1940s Weekend organisers.

The notice of approval says organisers of the event are responsible for providing access to vehicles wishing to access New Street and Park Lane.

The weekend of entertainment starts today (Friday) with a “Salute The 40s Variety Show at Welshpool Town Hall and continues tonight with a Castle Belles Concert in the Church House and an evening of “Knees Up Mother Brown” with fish and chips suppers in the Town Hall.

Saturday night sees a Blitz Ball in the Town Hall and a Tea Dance at the Church House, a Youth Band Concert in the Cowshac and a closing concert with Builth Male Voice Choir in the Methodist Church on Sunday night.

Numerous displays and demonstrations will take place throughout the weekend on Broad Street and in Seven Stars Car Park.
