Nashville star in Welshpool

A Nashville country star will be headlining Welshpool Songwriters Session on Friday night.

Just over a year ago the Welshpool Songwriter Sessions were born, a chance to hear growing musical talent playing live in the intimate surroundings of Welshpool’s Monkey Puzzle café.

Now organisers Stewart Charman and Barry Williams are about to celebrate a milestone by welcoming their first international songwriter, from Nashville, Tennessee, to the sessions.

Shantell Ogden will be headlining the Welshpool Songwriter Sessions on Friday, October 4, supported by local artists Michael Riffel and Cathy Beech. 

The award-winning songwriter and Americana artist’s songs have received airplay on hundreds of country and Americana radio stations internationally, and gained impressive chart positions both in the US and Europe, including a number 2 slot behind country star Chris Stapleton for her single ‘Blossom in the Dust’.

Shantell's music has also been featured in shows such as the US hit television series ‘Hart of Dixie’ and in several feature films.

Shantell is returning to the UK for the third time with her appearance at the Welshpool Songwriter Sessions forming part of a six-date tour during which she will be previewing a yet-to-be-released EP, Song Sampler Vol.1.

This will only be available for purchase at her live shows and is her sixth studio album since moving to Nashville in 2005.

"The music fans across the pond have continued to be so supportive of me year after year," says Shantell. "I'm very excited about sharing this new music with them before it's available anywhere else."
