Welshpool mum’s help for mental health

04/11/2020 @ 07:39

A Welshpool mum is calling on Welshpool businesses to back her bid to get a ‘mental health bundle’ of books placed in every school in the Welshpool area.

Mum-of-two boys, Hayley Jones, who is also a teacher, said that she fully understands the mental challenges that youngsters are currently facing, so is also using her connection as an independent Usborne book organiser to make a difference.

“Mental health has always been at the forefront of my teaching as I believe it to be so important,” said Hayley.

“Lockdown has not helped either. With this in mind, I wanted to reach out and do something to make a difference.”

Hayley has put together four-book bundles covering the subject area and has already gained the support of several local businesses to sponsor a pack of books.

“The idea is to try and get a pack in all the local schools in Welshpool and the surrounding area,” she said. “So far, I’ve got 11 packs waiting to be assigned a forever home, where children can find useful help, advice and a friendly voice within them if they wish to reach out for extra support.

“If there are any more businesses out there who would like to offer their support and pledge £33 for a pack (or packs) of books, then please contact me (hayleyjanedear@hotmail.com). Each book will have their business name on a template in the front of each book, so the school knows who has kindly donated them.”

The following businesses have supported so far:

Welshpool Printing Group

The Car Wash Ltd

Moo’s Cafe

Rikki Lloyd’s Butchers

Spice Lounge Guilsfield

Angel Voice Singing School

Welshpool Kitchen Company
