Workout with a Team GB star!

23/12/2020 @ 09:21

Welshpool’s Team GB star, Adele Nicoll, is now used to racing against time since recently becoming a member of the British bobsleigh team, but this week’s challenge could have seen Christmas cancelled.

Adele made it back from the continent on Sunday just before Britain started to become cut off due to the new strain of Covid-19 detected on our shores.

We will tell you what she has been doing over there and her plans for 2021 later in the week, but she has made it back to Welshpool with an offer to “do my bit to help out some families in Welshpool and surrounding areas during tough times”.

Adele (pictured), who has ambitions to represent Great Britain at the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics in bobsleigh and Wales at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham in shot putt, has moved back to the town after completing her Masters in Psychology at Cardiff University with a distinction in her dissertation.

And now, as a qualified coach, she is turning her attention to the coming year and wants to start by getting us on the move, quite literally, when safe to do so.

“I'm offering a free post-lockdown outdoors athletics training session (for 8-18 years) with myself!” said Adele, who continues to receive local support from Rikki Lloyd, Dawson Shanahan and Great Fitness.

“I'll coach these one-to-one (parents welcome to watch socially distanced). Alternatively, I can coach siblings who are part of the same household together in one session. I'll offer three spaces and each session will be an hour long.”

Adele said she is happy to adapt sessions to specifics on request.

“If a son/daughter wants to work on their speed for their sport (football, rugby or hockey etc.), I can do a sprints session with them.

“For the mums, dads and other adults, I can offer a free one-to-one outdoors fitness training session. Again I'll offer three spaces, each for one-hour long.”

To be in with a chance, simply message Adele on her Facebook page and she will use a ‘random generator’ to select the winners in time for Christmas.

“I will even create a voucher, which can be wrapped, delivered or collected before Christmas Day!”

We caught up with Adele this week to discuss the bizarre turn of events that have seen her become a dual elite athlete and place her well and truly in the Olympic spotlight. All will be revealed later this week!
