Ideas for art project to combat local loneliness

11/05/2021 @ 09:57

Ideas are being sought for arts projects that help combat loneliness in Montgomeryshire.

Local art group Celf-Able is planning to apply to the Lottery Great Ideas Fund towards arts projects.

“We would very much like to hear your views on the arts activities you would like to see and that you might take part in,” said a group spokesperson.

“We are having two open meetings on Zoom, Thursday, May 27 at 7pm and Friday, May 28 at 2pm.”

She added: “The theme of the project will be loneliness and how arts activities can help combat it, and how we can make it easier for you to take part in the arts services we offer, so please do come along to one of the meetings and share your views and ideas. For the Zoom link to join the meetings, please email admin@celf-able.org.

“We also welcome new members to our regular sessions, Wednesdays, 11am-1pm on Zoom. We have a variety of artist-led workshops at the moment, including altered book art, creative writing, exploring pattern and much more. Email admin@celf-able.org for more details.”

Membership is £12 annually, but the first session is free. Or you can join a session as a one-off for £10 (Friends £5).

The group is also launching a ‘Friends of Celf-Able’. It will be £6 annually for individuals, £12 for organisations, and friends will get regular news and updates, and reduced-price attendance at workshops.

“We provide opportunities for people to get together and do art, share and learn from each other.  We are open to all ages and abilities, disabled and non-disabled,” said a spokesperson.
