School’s bumper Easter Bingo

03/04/2023 @ 09:27

There was a full house for the Welshpool Church in Wales Primary School’s Easter Bingo, organised by the Friends.

A fantastic total of £618.13 was raised with the funds being put towards much needed outdoor equipment such as wire fencing for the Forest School area, and benches, tables and canopies for the multi-use games area.

Lots of Easter goodies were donated by Aldi, Applegreen, Morrisons, The Premier Shop/ Post Office and Tesco which made up the prizes - hampers for a full house and eggs for one line and two lines.

Mr Gregory, a class teacher, did an excellent job of being caller and then turned auctioneer for the remaining eggs, with one fetching £20!

A guess the weight of the Easter cake competition also proved to be very popular. An exquisitely decorated cake made by Linda Owen, weighing in at 1.59 kg was won by Carwyn Smith, a Year 1 pupil, who guessed the closest at 1.4 kg.

The Enterprise children also had an opportunity to raise money by selling their plants.

In a statement, the school said: “A huge thank-you to all our pupils, past and present, who joined us with their families and the wider community to make tonight such a success!

“Thank you also to our amazing Friends of Welshpool Church in Wales Primary School, our enthusiastic Enterprise group and the eggcellent Mr Gregory as our Bingo Caller!”

The Easter event follows on from the successful Christmas Fayre which raised over £1,000.

The Friends will continue offering more events for the school and the wider community to enjoy with the aim of being able to purchase the outdoor equipment and are having a Summer Fayre which is taking place on Thursday June 29, from 3.30pm to 5.30pm.
