Community Café opens Friday
The café is being piloted for a two-month period and is being run by volunteers and supported by Llanfair Caereinion Town Council. If successful, it will become a permanent fixture.
Ruth Bates, a resident of Llanfair Caereinion who put forward the idea, said: “We have been encouraged by the number of volunteers who have come forward to support this initiative and we thank Llanfair Caereinion Town Council for supporting the pilot.
“Llanfair Caereinon is a brilliant place to live, but we are missing having a café in the town centrre, especially since the closure of Rita’s café. We do hope people will use the café and enjoy a cuppa and cake with friends and neighbours.”
The café will be open on Thursday mornings (10.30am-12.30pm) and Friday afternoons (2.30pm-5.30pm) at the Institute.
A logo has been designed for the café by Jonathan Richards, Director of Acorn Branding and Digital Marketing, and 22 volunteers have signed up to support either in person or by baking cakes.
A Facebook page has been set up called ‘Caffi Cymunedol Llanfair Caereinion Community Café’.
