Celebrating 90ths – 56 years apart!

A well-known local family has come together to celebrate a family member’s 90^th birthday, 56 years after celebrating a similar landmark for the birthday girl’s grandmother at the same venue.

In 1967, to celebrate the 90^th birthday of ‘Granny Williams’ of The Pentre Farm, Berriew, the family attended a party at the Elephant and Castle Hotel in Newtown.

And last Sunday, it was the turn of one of the granddaughters, Merle Harding (Williams) to celebrate her 90^th birthday with her immediate family at the same venue.

Interestingly, the hotel is owned by family member Ian Williams who was in the 1967 picture.

In all, there are 11 family members on both pictures namely: Merle Harding, Roy Williams, Merion Tilsley, Doreen Francis (Tilsley) Shelia Jones (Jarmon), Linda Schroeder (Williams), Ian Williams, Gareth Thomas, Glyn, Clive and Malcolm Harding.
