Thousands of people flocked to the Upper Rectory Field on Bank Holiday Saturday for the 74th Berriew Show, which prhanisers claim to have been the best attended in its long history.
From a packed exhibition tent with over 1,200 entries to a busy horse and dog show, there was something for everyone at the 15-acre site.
Seventy vintage vehicles were on show to admire, along with a display of rare breed sheep and goats and an arena packed with entertainment including the fabulous Willow Station, Nula Hula hoop artist and Mark Russell from Solo Circus.
The ever-popular Ed Ryder was back once again with bubble football which attracted dozens of children.
Elsewhere, Emma Butters’ donkeys were a popular attraction along with a Nerf Labyrinth, bungee trampoline and tea cup ride for the children. And if that wasn’t enough, there was a wide array of local craft and skill on offer, with 150 trade and craft stalls including food and drink to suit all tastes.
And acts of kindness abounded, with two visitors reporting that stall holders had allowed them to leave with goods and pay later, and ‘John’ from Cheshire was dumbfounded when he was loaned £100 by a stranger to tide them over.
The show couldn’t have been possible without the tremendous support of almost 100 sponsors who gave generously to help fund the development of The Show.
Planning is already under way for the 75th Anniversary Show on August 24, 2024, when once again all will be warmly invited to Berriew for a festival of horticulture, agriculture, craft, food drink and music.
