There was praise for those who attended the successful May the 4th Be with You Fun Day held on Corfield Fields on Sunday.

The event was held with a strong canine theme and attracted plenty of interest from the town with more than £600 raised on the day for Lingen Davies Cancer Treatment Centre and the Poodle Rescue Service.

The following was received by MyWelshpool from the organisers to look back on a successful event and the good news that “not a single scrap of rubbish or waste was left behind”.

The report:

“The weather was definitely on our side with perfect conditions for being out and about.

We had an amazing turn out for the dog show and our Judge, Debby Knight, had a really tough decision on her hands in each of the categories. Huge thanks too to Ceri of Nose to Toes who did a fantastic job stewarding.

Our memory tree is proving to be very well received and is starting to bear witness to very special people and animals that live on in our hearts. Anyone wishing to add a special memory/relationship to the tree, is able to do so, we do ask that padlocks are bought from ourselves so that the charities can continue to benefit.

By the end of yesterday, we counted over £600 gratefully received from the proceeds of the dog show, raffle, memory tree love locks, donations and pitch fees from our stall holders who added interest to the day.

Before leaving the site on Sunday, we walked the area to ensure we returned it to our generous hosts as we found it. Not a single scrap of rubbish or waste has been left. An absolutely fabulous turn out from very generous people.”
