Grants available for local groups

Grants up to £1,000 have been made available for local organisations who are working with the community in the Welshpool area.

The Burgess Lands Trust is offering help for organisations in the area of the old borough of Welshpool namely Castle Caereinion, Guilsfield, Trewern and Welshpool.

A spokesperson said that among those receiving awards last year were the Friends of Welshpool High School, Guilsfield Evergreen Club, Welshpool Town Bowling Club, Montgomeryshire Youth Theatre, Welshpool Community Transport and the Transforming Lives for Good project for young people.

“If you are involved with a group which provides services exclusively or in part for the young, elderly or people with disabilities and operate in these communities this scheme might be able to help you,” the spokesperson told us.

“Grants are limited to a maximum of £1,000 and an award will take the form of a single payment.”

Awards cannot be made to individuals or for-profit organisations.
