Welshpool pub calls out staff abuse

A Welshpool pub has called out the abuse suffered by staff last night, which included alleged racist remarks.

Newly re-opened The Welly took to social media this morning to report the unsavoury incident that tarnished a “fantastic first night of live music” that featured talented local performer, Steve Edwards.

After praising his “amazing” set, the pub wrote: “On a slightly less positive note; after a wonderful evening the end of the night turned slightly sour.

“I’d like to remind our customers we want everyone to have the best time and experience they can with us however I do not tolerate any abuse and racist remarks towards staff or others on the premises.

“My team are working hard to create an atmosphere that is comfortable, nice and certainly safe for themselves and the customers and do not need to be treated badly.”

The Welly only reopened in February after closing for the entire duration of the pandemic, and has re-emerged with a new look following significant investment.
