Tesco said it hopes to restore its Welshpool frozen food capacity in “the coming days” after a problem resulted in thousands of pounds worth of stock being removed from sale.
The freezers and fridges at the supermarket giant were impacted by the problems on Sunday, with issues expected to continue for some time yet.
A spokesperson told us that “as a precaution” they have removed any impacted products from sale, which will be converted into animal feed or turned into energy.
“We are working hard to fix an electrical issue impacting some of the fridge and freezers at our Welshpool Superstore,” they said.
“We have withdrawn some frozen food from sale, but will return the store to full availability in the coming days. We apologise for the inconvenience.”
The store said that all normal food safety protocols have been followed and that staff were on hand to help customers if needed.
