KFC to open “this month”

KFC has confirmed that it will be open in Welshpool “this month” and said that it will be creating 40 jobs and will add around £620,000 to the local economy every year.

The fast food giant told us that it will be open from 10am-11pm, seven days a week, and will be redistributing its surplus food to ‘people in need across Welshpool via our partnership with FareShare’.

They also said they would carry out ‘regular team litter picks to help clean up the local community’.

The news this afternoon follows hot on the heels of Starbucks who opened yesterday in the same location on Buttington Roundabout.

A KFC spokesperson said: “Fried chicken fans of Welshpool, not long to wait now! The doors to your new KFC restaurant will be opening this month. We can’t wait to become part of the community, welcoming new team members and serving up our finger lickin’ chicken - tidy!”

Across the road from the KFC and Starbucks is a new Costa Coffee Drive Thru taking shape, along with an application from Tesla for a 12-space EV charging station that is going through the planning process.
