Fireworks profit means a bigger and better display in 2026!

Thanks to the generosity of many of those who attended the 2025 ‘free’ fireworks display in Welshpool, we can expect this year’s edition to be ‘bigger and better’!

A financial report on 2025 events presented this week at the Town Council’s Events and Planning Committee showed that the Fireworks Night in November had a budget of £2,500, and was anticipated to bring in £2,000 in income through donations and vendors.

But the accounts show that a whopping £2513.65 was made in income with £2,186.48 spent to date putting it on.

Impressively, donations reached £2,158.65 with the vendors paying £355 in total to be on site.

However, that figure is down on the £2,981.50 raised the previous year.

The report was warmly received by councillors with Committee Chair, Cllr Phil Davies, saying: “The last two have been the best we have had.”

Among the recommendations accepted included improving the sound quality for the MC and music on the night, as well as “increase the budget for a better fireworks display”.

Live acts could also become a part of the evening before the fireworks display and, due to the number of people attending, a strong focus will continue on safety and accessibility to the site.
