Major emergency response following town centre ‘explosion’

Emergency services are on the scene of a town centre incident this evening after reports of an ‘explosion’ at The Cross.

A number of fire personnel have been seen in attendance with unofficial reports that there was an explosion from the ‘mains’ electricity supply located at the front of The Royal Oak.

There are no reports of casualties at this time (8.30pm), and we have contacted Dyfed-Powys Police and Mid and West Wales Fire & Rescue for official confirmation.

In the meantime, the area is closed off so fire fighters can deal with any fires that may have been caused underground.

Dyfed-Powys Police have asked motorists and pedestrians to “please avoid the area and find alternative routes for your journey”.
