Vacancy for a Finance & Commercial Manager

An exciting and unique opportunity has arisen for a commercially focused finance professional to join this our progressive manufacturing business in Newtown, Mid Wales. To support continued profitable growth, a Financial Controller is required to provide financial, technical, and commercial support to senior management.

The successful candidate will be joining an established company that wants to implement systems and controls across the business to ensure sustainable growth whilst improving the margin, and this will be a key responsibility for the successful person. You will have full responsibility for robust financial reporting and control, leading and developing a team that will deliver high quality finance data and business insights to the senior leadership team, alongside managing key business administrative and legal duties.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Annual budget setting and overall management of the P&L budget.
  • Cash Flow Management of both UK & US company.
  • Purchasing & managing of foreign currency.
  • Resolving all general day to day accounts queries and mailbox management.
  • HMRC communications, import duties and VAT filing.
  • Organise and manage the year-end audit activity.
  • Coordinate and deliver the annual financial plan.
  • Provide strong financial review together with effective support for business development initiatives and supporting business cases, ensuring there are clear, financially robust evaluations which achieve financial targets.
  • Managing insurance policies and renewals.
  • Managing commercial contracts such as supplier agreements, partnership contracts, strategic alliances, and HR contracts.
  • Source & manage funding and grant application processes.
  • Using financial modelling to simulate potential scenarios.
  • Performing financial analysis on the company to predict financial health.
  • Finding ways to reduce costs and increase profits.
  • Collaborating with management to create funding strategies.
  • Fleet/Asset management.

 

As part of this role, you will be responsible for managing your accounts/admin support team with the following duties. 

  • Fleet & Asset Management.
  • Monthly management accounts & cashflow forecasts.
  • Setup of payment runs.
  • Sending out customer statements and invoices.
  • End to end sales ledger control including credit control, reconciliations, and collections.
  • End to end purchase ledger control including processing and posting purchase invoices and supplier payment setup, credit card receipt processing.
  • Ensure all HR records, time & attendance records, payrolls, pensions, and related returns are produced accurately and on time and are maintained in secure and confidential personnel files for all staff.
  • Managing payroll.
  • Posting of bank receipts to multiple banks.
  • Management of utilities.

 

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Formal accounts accreditation required.
  • Experience in medium size business environments.
  • Excellent relationship builder at all levels, with a hands-on approach and team player.
  • Effective communication and organisational skills.
  • Self-motivated and driven, with a good understanding of business finance requirements.
  • Commercially focussed with the ability to develop and adapt finance procedures as the business moves through change.
  • Good interpersonal skills as the role will involve dealing with all levels of the business team.
  • Attention to detail, and an eye for opportunity in challenging costs.
  • Ability to make informed, data driven decisions.
  • Manufacturing experience within a manufacturing/engineering business desirable.

 

Working Hours – 40 Hours per week – Mon-Thu: 8.00am – 5.00pm / Fri 8.00am – 12.00pm

Gross annual starting salary bracket: £40,000 - £50,000.00 (Gross)

Holidays: 24 days per annum (excluding bank holidays)
