Welshpool Golf Club’s Seniors Winter League was won by Stan Rawlings, even though he failed to finish in in the points in the final round.
Rawlings was pushed all the way by second placed Graham Hughes to win the 15 round event. Steve Morris (11) won the final round with 27 points from Phil Jones (17) with 26.
Thursday's seniors competition was the rearranged St David's Day Rose Bowl Greensomes and was won by Kevin Salter and Maurice Fox on the count-back with a net score of 45. Second were Stan Rawlings and Derrick Arthur and thuird were Ray Bowen and John Morley with a net 47 shots.
The club's 18 hole competitions began in traditional style on Saturday with a four man Texas scramble and a very strong field of 80 players facing blustery winds and rain.
The winners were Richard Templeton (5), Dwain Evans (9), Alun Ev-ans (14) and Bernie Evans (28) who scored an excellent 59.4. Sec-ond were Jonathan Gamble (4), Brent Parry (10), Mark Llloyd (14) and Dave Jones (20) with 63.2and third were Alan Davies (17), Charlie Emberton (17), Martyn Ward (18) and Arnold Tanner (24) who scored 63.4.
On Sunday severe weather meant that only two pairs completed the course in a four-ball betterball stableford. The winners were Mark Roberts (17) and Russell Jones with a score of 35 points. Coming second were the captain and vice captain, John Morley (21) and Philip Constable (15) with a score of 29.
