There’s a new book on sale that’s an absolute must for anyone interested in the history of Welshpool.

Produced by the Powysland Club “Welshpool Past & Present” chronicles changing in Welshpool and follows on from “The Changing Face of Welshpool, edited by the late Ion Trant in 1998 and “Welshpool 60 Years Ago by Senator Rupert Davies in 1964.

This third edition is seen as an attempt to include further changes since the previous versions including a few short essays and many more pages of new material and historical pictures.

Colin Rogers and Colin Stratford have provided many old photographs and postcards from the collections and others have been supplied by relatives of the late Adelaide Davies and the late Roger Jary. Articles by Roger Brown, Tony Solomon, Ian Hughes, Sally Pryce and Brian Poole are acknowledged. Colin Rogers has taken all the new photographs.

Others who have helped in the revision include Tony and Ruth Beardsell, Nigel Baldwin, Ivor Morris, Ian Hughes, Maggie Townsend, Betty Hyam, Sally Pryce and Avril Hart. Proof readers were Chris Townsend and Jean Wynne Griffiths. The book was printed and designed at WPG.

The book is pon sale for £12 from the Tourist Information Centre, Pethe Powys, the Celtic Company and the Powysland Club’s own library in Laundry Yard.
