Welshpool street scene ‘highly commended’

Welshpool’s Street Scene team has received national recognition at the GO Awards Wales ceremony held in Cardiff.

Welshpool Town Council took on the role of keeping Welshpool’s public areas maintained from Powys County Council several years back, and the hard work has captured the national attention.

The Town Council was ‘Highly Commended’ in the GO Best Service Award after missing out on the top prize to Lyreco UK Ltd, Europe’s leading distributor of office supplies.

“To have been recognised like this amongst all the big players is fantastic news for Welshpool and thoroughly deserved for the team’s hard work,” said Town Clerk, Robert Robinson. “It was amazing.”

The GO Awards Wales 2018/19 provide the private and public sector with an opportunity to showcase procurement initiatives and demonstrate why a procurement team is one of, if not, the best in Wales.

The GO Best Service Award recognises the critical part that pubic services play in ensuring end-user expectations are met, or, even better, exceeded – while paying heed to issues such as efficiency and sustainability. The focus is on the innovation in product and service delivery, engagement with end users and the positive impact of the service provided, rather than the size of the organisations delivering it.
