The A458 between Welshpool and Llanfair Caereinion reopened this afternoon under two-way traffic light control just over two months since motorists were faced with a 15 mile diversion.
The road had been under temporary traffic light control for over two years at Spring Bank, Golfa before closing for a culvert to be replaced on January 24.
The Welsh Highways Agency gave an assurance that the road would be reopened ahead of the Easter Bank Holiday when holiday traffic levels peak for the first time of the year and have been good to their word.
Traffic lights will remain in place while safety barriers are put in place but all the work should be completed before Easter.
The news will be welcomed by motorists and businesses alike.
