Forget the strike, local rugby is back

After a two-week break due to the Six Nations, Welshpool travel north to take on Abergele in Division Two of the North Wales league this weekend, writes Gary Williams.

Pool don't have the best of records at Gele in recent years, and although sitting a few places above their hosts in the league table, they will have to be at their best to come home with the spoils.

Hopefully, they will be over the disappointment of the narrow derby day defeat against Newtown in their last league game and get back to winning ways.

Newtown have a tough task with unbeaten league leaders, Wrexham, visiting the Rec. A close game in the cup earlier in the season against Wrexham and their win at Welshpool will give the hosts confidence that they can produce another fine performance and spoil the leaders' great run.

Llanidloes host Tonna in the quarter final of the WRU National Division Five Cup. The visitors will be an unknown quantity so it is difficult to predict the outcome of this game but you can be sure that Llani, at full strength, will be up for this and we wish them the very best of luck.

I’m sure they won’t be mentioning it at Llanidloes RFC, but they're just two games away from a Principality Stadium cup final.

In Division Three North East, COBRA 2nds host Denbigh 2nds. Mid-table COBRA should have enough firepower and home advantage to secure the points and move them in to the top half of the table.

In the North Wales Youth Leagues, COBRA host Colwyn Bay in the Premiership, whilst Newtown travel north to Bangor.
