Welshpool will be buzzing with sporting activity when two events bringing in thousands of people to the area will be held on the same weekend.
The Get Jerky Rally North Wales will be held on Saturday, March 25, and the following day, the brilliant Welshpool 10k will take place.
Both events are starting and finishing from the middle of town, providing a magnificent marketing opportunity for the town centre.
And at Wednesday night’s Town Council Events and Tourism Committee meeting, the Chair, Cllr Carol Robinson, said: “These events are great for the town. Just what it needs.”
The Mayor, Cllr Alison Davies, added: “It will be a busy weekend. Saturday with the car rally, then Sunday with the 10k run so there will be a lot of people about and we are hoping that this will be significant.”
The rally is expected to welcome around 140 cars, while last year’s entry for the 10k reached 1,000 runners.
