Guilsfield council Chair to step down

21/05/2023 @ 06:51

The man who spearheaded Guilsfield’s response to the Covid crisis has decided to stand down as Chair of the village’s community council.

Cllr Ian Harrison recruited a band of volunteers to ensure prescriptions and supplies reached the house-bound needy during the pandemic, proving hugely popular in a village with an ageing population.

But after four years as Chair of Guilsfield Community Council, he has decided the time is right to encourage fresh blood to take the village forward.

“It has been a huge privilege and honour to have served the community in this role,” said Cllr Harrison, who will continue as a councillor and also represents the village on Powys County Council.

“I have done four years so it is time to let someone with fresh, new ideas have a go.”

The community council will be holding its annual meeting this week when a new Chair will be elected by councillors.
