A major rescue operation was launched on Sunday afternoon to assist a climber who suffered a “significant leg injury” at Llanymynech.
Local emergency services were supported by specialists from North East Wales Search and Rescue and a helicopter from the Maritime and Coastguard Agency following the call-out.
The injured man was managing the rope for his climbing partner when a rock was dislodged and struck him.
“He had been struck by a large rock and suffered a significant leg injury,” a spokesperson for North East Wales Search and Rescue said.
“Team members responded in two Land Rovers. The casualty was assessed at scene by Welsh Ambulance and one of our team doctors.
“After packaging onto a stretcher, he was carried to a waiting Maritime and Coastguard Agency helicopter for transport to hospital.”
