One of Newtown's biggest annual events, the Newtown Food Festival, is set to return on Saturday, September 6, and Sunday, September 7. It will bring with it a packed weekend of food, drink, live entertainment, and family fun in the town.
Now in its eleventh year, the free event will again take place across the Town Hall Grounds, with organisers promising one of the most diverse programmes yet. More than 60 food and drink producers from across Powys and beyond are expected to take part, offering everything from artisan cheeses and baked goods to street food, cider and spirits.
Live music will be performed on the Main Stage throughout the weekend, with acts continuing into Saturday evening. The full line-up will be available via the official festival app, which includes an interactive map, exhibitor list and event schedule.
The popular Festival Kitchen will also return, showcasing cookery demonstrations from local chefs. The dedicated Children’s Village will offer free activities, including face-painting, crafts, and games.
This year, the Cultivate area, hosted by Bwyd Powys Food Partnership, has been added. It offers workshops and discussions on food sustainability and local food networks.
Organised by the Newtown Food Festival Community Interest Company with support from Newtown & Llanllwchaiarn Town Council and the Welsh Government, the event aims to celebrate the region’s rich food culture and boost local tourism.
“This is a celebration of everything great about Newtown—its food, music, businesses and community,” said organisers. “The festival has grown each year and 2025 is shaping up to be one of our best yet.”
Entry is free on both days. The festival will run from 10am until late on Saturday, and from 10am to late afternoon on Sunday.
