A message to our readers: Please sign hospitals petition

Over the years MyTown Media’s successful news sites of MyNewtown and MyWelshpool have always taken pride in being neutral by providing information and allowing our readers to make their own minds up on issues.

We understand there are always two sides to the story and allow healthy debate on issues via our social media pages.

But today we make a stand with a simple message: If you want to save community hospitals like Welshpool, sign this petition (below).

The changes to health provision at Welshpool Hospital are unacceptable. We are hugely concerned by the impact they will make on our community and we are sick and tired of seeing the town decimated to the point where we are being left with nothing.

Remember, this is just phase one of a major service delivery overhaul being planned by Powys health chiefs to cut costs. If this goes through, there will be very little left in our town and Welshpool hospital, part funded by the hard-earned money of local people, could be lost forever.

We already have probably the worst health care cover you will find anywhere in the UK, with post code lotteries for treatment and having to travel ridiculous distances just to get treatment.

Well, enough is enough. The people of Welshpool and the wider Powys area are fighting back.

This is a new petition that will go direct to the heart of Welsh Government, the people responsible for funding our local health provider – Powys Teaching Health Board (PTHB).

The previous petition circulating that you may have already signed was for PTHB, who haven’t listened.

It needs 250 signatures to get it noticed and 10,000 to get it discussed. It already has over 2,000 signatures.

Please sign and share with every one of your friends and ask them to do the same.

Our readers have always stood up to be counted when the time has been right, and hopefully this is one of those times for us to come together.
